If your elves are not too busy CONTRIBUTION TO FOOD BANK...The Food Pantry at First Baptist Church, St Paul, was the recipient of a check for $1500 from Food City customers, collect- ed through the "Race Against Hunger" cam- paign. Clara Johnson, First Baptist Church, is receiving the check from Bill Barker, St. Paul Store Manager. PASTOR TEDDY PHILLIPS of the House of the Lord Church received a check for $1500 from Food City presented by Bill Barker, Store Manager for the church's food bank. MORNING STAR, represented by Jerry Hall, received a check in the amount of $1500 from Food City's Store Manager Bill Barker for their food bank. In keeping with a centuries old tra- dition in the Catholic church, the priest and people of St. Therese parish in St. Paul will celebrate Midnight mass at midnight on December 25th. Midnight Mass - also known as the Mass of the Angels - is one of our distinct liturgies for Christmas Day and reflects an ancient tradition that Jesus was born during the night. This tradition is also reflected in carols such as "Silent Night", "O Holy Night" ("Cantique de Noel") and "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear". St. Therese parish welcomes all to Midnight Mass - especially former parishioners and the families of for- mer parishioners. In keeping with past tradition at the church, Midnight Mass will be prefaced at 11:30 with the singing of carols. Father Charles Ssembalu is the pastor of St. Therese which is on Wise Street in the town of St. Paul. Watch Night Service Church of the Most High God will be holding a Watch Night Service on Tuesday, December 31 beginning at 8:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. 'No Greater Love' to be staged Dry Fork Freewill Baptist Church will present their Christmas play "No Greater Love" on Friday, December 20 and Sunday, December 22 at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Youth group play is Dec. 22 Christmas garbage pick-up schedule The only change for the Christmas garbage pick up schedule is that the normal Wednesday run will be picked up on Tuesday. DMV hours All Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) full-service cus- tomer service centers will be closed December 23-25 in observance of the Christmas holiday. DMV will also close on January 1, 2014 for the New Years holiday. Camp Bethel Lights The Open Door Tabernacle Youth Group will be presenting their Camp Bethel in Lights located at Christmas play on Sunday, December 9050 Camp Bethel Rd in Wise is 22 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Pastor open through New Years Day. Buddy Burke invites everyone to Sunday to Thursday 6:00 pm-9:30 attend, pm and Friday and Saturday 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm. Donations are accepted. Wise Co. Sheriff's office offers Good Morning Wise County The Wise County Sheriff's Office offers a free service to all seniors of Wise County and the City of Norton. The Good Morning Wise County program provides a volunteer to call and check on the welfare of all participants, to deter- mine if they have food, heat in winter, and cooling in the summer. They also want to make sure participants in the pro- gram are not being abused, mistreated, or neglected. All eligible seniors are encouraged to sign up and use this free service. To sign up call Wilma at 276-328-7114 and leave your name and phone number. You may also call Sheriff Oakes, or a member of his staff, at 276-328-3756.
