CLINCH VALLEY TIMES St. Paul, Va. Thursday, December 18, 2014 Page 7 ALUMNI BASKETBALL GAMES - A GREAT WAY TO KICK OFF THE SEASON Several years ago, Castlewood Girls Basketball Coach Barry Ruff arranged an alum- ni basketball game between St. Paul and Castlewood. What began as a fundraising idea has become an annual event that both players and spectators seem to enjoy. This year, it was a good time at the St. Paul gym as 26 men and 18 women participated before a packed house. Castlewood women won by 8 points in the first game and Castlewood men won by 6 in a close one that went into overtime. There were participants repre- senting every decade since the 1980's and it was a wonderful display of competitive fun. Participating for the Devils: (Men) Ben Fields, Seth Justice, Drew Justice, Derek Phillips, Daven Phillips, Curt Monk, Matt Barnette, Stacy Martin, Brandon Talford, Daniel Jessee, Jason Monk, Reid Edmonds, Jamie Castle, Derek Allen, Dylan Allen, and Justin Smith; (Women) Betty Talford, Marsha House, Lorren Evans, Haley Gilbert, Shaina Hall, Taylor Banner, Danielle Jessee, Cherita Peterson, and Racuel Phillips. Participating for the Deacons: (Men) Jason Kilgore, Jason Gross, Dustin Mabe, James Steffey, Jeff Bellamy, Cody Mullins, Ryan .Padgett, Bryce Lawson, Matt Dupuie, and Kevin Stapleton; (Women) Jill CoUch, Caroline Baca, Terri Ann Funk, Rachel Evans, Brittany Stanley, Tiffany Austin, Hannah Porter, Abigail Stanley, and Alyssa Young.
