Church and related activities Joseph Luther Slemp St. Paul, VA ~- Joseph Luther "Joe" Slemp, 77 went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his residence in St. Paul Virginia. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Lord came first in his life. Also co-owner and operator of Tray Coal. Joe was the son of the late Luther Slemp and Leafie Ann Adkins Slemp; also preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie Nell Yates and Nova Lawson; a brother, Morrell Slemp. Survivors include his wife, Marlene Brooks Slemp, St. Paul, a son, Joey Slemp, Abingdon; three brothers, C. B. Slemp, Franklin, TN, Jimmy H. Slemp and Ray Slemp both of Coeburn; several nieces and nephews. A private family service was held at Estes Funeral Horhe Chapel with Pastor Rick Gibson officiating. Entombment followed at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Missionary fund, P.O. Box 204, Castlewood, VA 24224 in Joe's memory. Arrangements are being handled by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave. NE, Coeburn, VA.
