Clinch River Little League 9 & 10 boys Coeburn's #12 gets a bunt down vs Clinch River Wednesday at Appalachia during the girls 9 & 10 softball tournament. Coeburn Little League 9 & 10 boys Coeburn 9 & 10 girls - District 13 Champions District 13 "Little League boys 8-10 tournament by David Gregory Coeburn's boys advanced to the champi- onship game, being played at the Dotson complex in Wise, Monday June 26 with wins over Pound, Wise, Twin Springs, and Lee County (14-0). Big Stone Gap, who fought their way out of the loser's bracket, defeated Coeburn 11-8 on Sunday forcing a final game for the champi- onship and a place in the ~tate Tournament. , Clinch River' boys won their first round game ~ending Big Stone Gap into /he loser's bracket. Tuesday Lee County bumped Clinch River from the winner's bracket giving them a date Wednesday With Wise. : Chase Williams and jasper Salyers combined for 12 strikeouts while allowing only 3 hits in Wednesday's 10-3 win over Wise. Clinch River scored 6 times in the first inning getting hits from Maddox Nuckols, Aiden Phillips(2), Jared Glovier, Landon Hess(2), and Salyers (2). Branson Tompkins doubled and scored for Wise in the top 9f second inning behind Landon Home's rbi single. ~Vise added 1 run in the fourth and another in the top of the fifth. Clinch River responded with 3 in the bottom of the fifth get- ting a double from Braydon Houchins and another rbi hit from Salyers to secure the win. Big Stone used solid pitching from Eli Schlobohm and Sammy Whittman taking an 11-1 win Friday dismissing Clinch River. Braxton Bunch tallied three hits including a 2rbi triple for Big Stone Gap. Maddox Nuckols, Landon Hess, and Aiden Phillips each had a hit for Clinch River. Coeburn Little League wins softball flag by David Gregory Coeburn earned District 13's spot in the 8-10 Little League softball State Tournament with a 14-2 win over Clinch River. Coeburn knocked off Norton in game 1. Clinch River got by Lee County in their first round contest set- ting up the round two match up between Coeburn and Clinch River. Coeburn employed small ball, getting key run producing bunts by Jada Jordan and Taylor Clay, to take a 9-3 win vs. Clinch River Tuesday at Appalachia. Wednesday Madison Sutherland fanned 13 and scored three times as Clinch River stayed alive with a 10-3 win over Lee County. Bailee Varney had 3 hits and three rbi for Clinch River. In Saturday's champi- onship game, second inning hits by Madison Porter, Riley Bower, Emma Sartin, and a double by Miya Durham gave Coeburn a 6-0 lead. Sutherland singled and scored in the third for Clinch River to make the score 6-1. Coeburn added 8 runs in the top of the fourth for a 14-1 margin. Sutherland singled and scored again for Clinch River in the bottom of the frame. Coeburn took the 14-2 win in 4 innings.
