Thursday, April 21, 2016. iLady Spartans t thump '' Castlewood " Kaylee Jones went 3-4 with a second inning home t run and Grace McCowan tossed a 1 hitter striking out 4 as Eastside knocked off the Lady Devils 12-0 Friday in Cumberland Conference action at Eastside. Cassidy Fleming had Castlewood's lone hit and Shaakira Home took the loss. McCowan retired the Lady Devils in order in the top of the first then Jones and Eastside went to work scoring 4 in the bottom of the inning. Jones singled, scoring on Jayme Salyers' double in the right field gap. Emily Moore (2-3) followed Salyers with a base hit and Hannah Buchanan reached base on a walk. Kelly Sykes (2-3) capped the inning with a 2rbi double to right field. Emily Lee led off the Lady Spartans second with a base hit to left field. Jones followed the single with a two run shot that put Eastside in front 6-0. With two outs, Moore reached safely on a base hit and later scored on a single by Buchanan. Lee picked up her second hit of the after- noon in the home half of the third inning driving in Lacey Austin with the Lady Spartans 8th run of the game. Jones plated Lee when she when she was safe on an error making the score 9-0 after three frames. Cassidy Fleming broke up the no-hit bid, in the top of the fourth, driving a 1 out base hit to right canter field. Fleming advanced to third on a ground ball out but was stranded when McCowan got Alana Kiser to fly out to center field. The Lady Spartans added three more runs in the bot- tom of the fourth getting a single by Austin and a dou- ble by Jones. McCowan completed the 5 inning win retiring the Lady Devils in order to end the game.
