Jones Don't mess with a man's dog Back when I was a young man, a lot of guys kept a good hunting dog or two. And I don't reckon you could be a farmer unless you had a good cat- tle dog. And then there was some of the old timers that liked to hear the hounds run so they kept 3 or 4 hounds and on the week- ends, they would take the hounds, go to the moun- tains, build them up a fire and set down and listen to the fox hounds run all night. The one thing you didn't do was mess with a man's dog. I've always heard it said that a dog was a man's Here to serve Hamilton Pharmacy & Couch Home Medical Our pharmacy will compete with the big boys/ Plus we have jewelry and watches. I heard about this guy, everywhere he went, his dog went with him. When you saw him, you saw the dog. And what he ate, the dog ate. Well, one night, he went to church. He went in and sat down. His dog came in and sat down right at the end of his seat beside his master. And it kindly irritated the preacher so he walks down the aisle, and with a rough voice says, "Get out of here! Get!" So the dog went out of sight. Well, everybody in church knew that after service was over with there would be a fight or maybe a killing. But the preacher came back and apologized to the gentle- man and said, "Well, "I'm sorry I run your dog out of the church." The guy shook his hand, said, "'That's perfectly alright preacher. Don't you worry about that. I wouldn't have wanted my dog to hear that sermon no way."
