CLINCH VALLEY TIMES St. Paul, Va. Thursday, March 23, 2017 Page 3 Q Church and related activities Reginald Douglas Ward BRISTOL, VIRGINIA - Reginald Douglas ("Coach .... Doug .... Reg") Ward, 82, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017. Doug Ward was born in Dickenson County, Virginia; son of the late Rubye Wright Ward LaForce and Prentice Ward. He graduated from Ervinton High School and received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History from East Tennessee State University. Doug was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a high school football coach and educator in schools throughout the Southeast for over thirty years, including his alma mater. He was recognized for coaching excellence multiple times; but, was most proud of win- ning Coach of the Year in the Lonesome Pine District in 1981. He was also an avid gamecock breeder and fighter who enjoyed a wide-ranging reputation as a great "Pit Man". Doug also enjoyed golf, racquetball, and dancing. He is survived by five siblings, Paula Axsom, Mancel LaForce and wife, Judy, Alleta Johnson and husband, Harold, Rita Sutherland and husband, Craig, and Caroline Duff; one daughter, Delaine Ward; one son, Ward Ward and wife, Bunnie; and six grandchili:lren, Thor, Katelyn, Ruby, Gray, Li, and Jais. A Memorial Service to celebrate Doug's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Castlewood Funeral Home, 80 Donnie Dean Dr., Castlewood, Virginia. David Anthony Holyfield Coeburn, VA- David Anthony Holyfield, 47 passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Holyfield and a brother, Richard Allan Holyfield; grandfather Ival 'Brother' Mitchell grandmother. Mildred Gray.
