Upon arrival deputies discovered several .CDL truck driver training available With SWVA WDB Power Grant The Southwest Virginia Workforce Development Board is pleased to announce that funding for Class A CDL truck driver (raining is now available for laid-off coal industry ~vorkers who qualify for fhe Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization (POWER) National Dislocated Worker Grant. The POWER Grant offers laid 6ff coal miners the oppor- tunity to train for in- demand occupations while improving their skills. While enrolled, partici- i~ants of the training will receive supportive services for mileage, childcare, and other training-related expenses to help them suc- cessfully complete training and obtain their Class A CDL license. "Regardless of the future of the coal industry, there are many reasons someone might choose to expand their skillsets with one of the training and cre- dentialing options avail- able under this grant,'" explained. , =Regional POWER Grant Coordinator Stephen Mullins. "The latest addi- tion of Class A CDL truck driver training is a good example of an occupation that continues to glow in job openings in the region, in the state, and in the nation.
