He was the son of the late' Marvin and Nellie Trent of St. Paul, Virginia. He is survived by his 'wife, Shirley Trent; one daughter, Cathy Alvis; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, David Trent; three sisters, Helen Howell, Jenny Hileman, and Brenda Spotte. The arrangements are incomplete at this time. This information is by Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia. K-12 educators invited to basketball game at UVa-Wise In appreciation of the dedicated K-12 educators in Southwest Virginia, UVa-Wise Chancellor Donna P. Henry is inviting teachers from the region to a doubleheader basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 25, in the David J. Prior center. "UVa-Wise has alumni teaching in classrooms throughout Virginia, the nation and in other coun- tries," Henry said. "Inviting teachers as spe- cial guestsat the basketball game is just a small way to express our gratitude to the hardworking people who make a difference in the lives of our children." The UVa-Wise Cavaliers will host Concord University for the doubleheader. In addition to free admission, teachers who present their school identification will receive a commemorative UVa-Wise cup and free sodas and popcorn during the games. Tipoff for the women's game is 2 p.m. The men's game follows at 4 p.m. For more information, contact College Relations at 276- 376-1027. Richmond--From Page1 Custodial, 51. Bus Drivers, 70. Now, let's compare those 1970 figures to those from the' Wise County Public Schools online pro- file for the 2015-2016 school year. There were 5,631students enrolled at 14 school facilities. The school budget was $59,329,600. Full-time and part, time personnel totaled 1,100, which is bro- ken down as follows: 520 faculty/instructional; 135 teacher aides; 250 adminis- trative, service, and sup- port personnel. The salary range for teachers was $34,660 to $59,857. Expenditure per pupil was $9,690. A total of 80 school buses were in oper- ation. A total of 70 cafete- ria employees served 1600 breakfasts and 3330 lunch- es each day. Mr. Richmond could not have envisioned the complex statutory and financial processes of edu- cation in today's world. However, he would be gratified to know that Wise County's students ranked 4th statewide in overall test scores for 2015-2016. Today's faculty and staff have proven themselves as "keepers of the flame." May it never go out. ATTEND c.uRc. THiS ' SUNDAY TRI-COUNTY TIRE SERVICE INC. St. Paul, Va.
